Have you always wanted to learn the pottery wheel? This three-session beginner series is the perfect place to start! Designed for complete beginners, this class gives you the time to build skills and confidence while learning the fundamentals of wheel throwing in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
Over three weekly classes, you'll learn the essential techniques every potter needs, including centering clay, opening and pulling walls, shaping forms, trimming, attaching handles, and finishing your work. Throughout the series, you'll create
bowls and mugs, giving you the opportunity to practice each new skill while making functional pottery you'll be proud to use at home.
Unlike a one-time wheel class, this series allows you to build on what you learned each week, giving you more time to practice and improve your technique. Class sizes are kept small so every student receives individual guidance throughout the series.
Your class fee includes all instruction, clay, glazes, kiln firings, and
up to five finished pieces. About two weeks after the final class, your pottery will be ready to glaze. Simply stop by anytime during our regular studio hours to glaze your own pieces using our selection of studio glazes. After glazing, we'll fire your pottery one final time, and your finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately one week.
This is Level 1 in our pottery wheel program and is the prerequisite for our Returning Beginner (Level 2) classes, Practice Wheel sessions, and Clay Membership.
Pre-registration is required, as seating is limited.
